Microsoft has reportedly paused its native Xbox handheld console development to prioritise optimising Windows 11 for third-party handhelds. The move aims to enhance performance and battery efficiency, to bring Windows 11 on par with Valve’s SteamOS. Collaborative projects, such as the Xbox-branded Asus device (codenamed Project Kennan), remain unaffected and are still expected to launch.
