Nokia’s mobile division was initially known for making feature phones. Later, the company was sold to Microsoft, eventually being bought in 2016 by HMD Global, which was formed by Nokia’s former executives. Now, the company is exploring partnerships with “large scale” mobile manufacturers for produce its smartphones as the licensing deal with HMD is set to end in 2026.
