Meta’s Reality Labs has revealed its progress on a non-invasive wristband as a human-computer interaction (HCI) tool in a new peer-reviewed article. The device uses surface electromyography (sEMG) to interpret muscle signals and understand a user’s intent to perform certain tasks. The aim is to translate subtle muscle movements into direct digital commands, and offer more alternative forms of input.
